March is the start of summer in the Philippines and the weather is hot and humid. Kulinarya Club’s Jun of Junblog and Arnold of Inuyaki came up with a cool challenge for the month of March and that would be a frozen treat. It can be an ice candy or popsicle for as long as it’s frozen, and sweet.
I was kind of hesitant to make this treat for the March Kulinarya Club entry because the weather here in Southern California that is kind of hot and then cold and then hot again. Well, we finally got a break and our popsicle prayer was heard. Cold weather is upon us and this treat was made and even had some photos shot without melting.

Oh my goodness, Ray, those look amazing. We’ve had some 80-degree days so these are perfect for right now even though it isn’t really summer yet. I love the addition of the fresh strawberries!

If it wasn’t for the cooking challenge, I would have waited for summer but you know, we enjoyed eating them even it was 50 degrees here yesterday. LOL. I was thinking of adding Kiwi but strawberries were in my fridge and it worked. Thank you, Christiane!

Wow! What a great idea to make the classic “Filipino fruit salad” into ice pops! Love it! I must make this as soon as it gets warmer here. Thanks for this recipe, Chef Ray! Gorgeous photos….so mouthwatering! Nice to create along with you on this KCC event! Thanks for the blog-support, too! Cheers!

Thank you, Elizabeth. I just couldn’t think of anything else to use that is colorful but the good old fruit cocktail.

Wow, I will definitely try making these in ice candy form. They look great and I’m sure they taste delicious!

YUM! Those remind me of buko popsies I used to love as a kid. I like chunks of fruits in my ice block the way I like ‘em in my jelly.

Thank you and nice making the theme with you at Kulinarya.

I feel like I wanna grab some of those, that made me crave for it. I think even without ice pop moulds I will make them.

Oh yeah, without the mold and the sticks… it would be the same yum, Raymund. Thank you.

Ray, I’m ready to eat these ice pops no matter how cold it is, even when it’s snowing! Beautiful ice pops!!! I only know how to make almond jelly using fruit cocktail. Here’s another recipe I need to try!
Hi Nami, it should be the same concept as the jelly only I used milk. Thank you, Nami!

These look great! the colors really pop. You combined two classic summer treats: fruit salad and ice cream and you knocked it out of the park! Growing up we always made fruit salad during the summer, so this brings back great memories.

Wow, that’s an interesting thought! I love the use of coconut, but I usually don’t like syrup-canned fruit – would I have to adjust liquids if I sued fresh fruit instead?
Yes Kiri, you can use fresh fruit but you may need to adjust and add more condensed milk to compensate the sweetness. Thank you for your good question.

Thumbs up to you, Ray! I love how beautiful your ice pops look! Fruit salad is one of my favorite frozen treat flavors!

What is Nestle table cream? I can’t wait to make these but I am not sure what that is. Thanks.
Hi Katie,
Nestle cream is a dairy product that can be bought at Asian Markets or even regular supermarkets. Here is a link from Walmart just to give you an idea of what it looks like. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nestle-For-The-Table-Cream-7.6-fl-oz/10804333
Thank you for asking!

Oh wow! These look delicious! I love to eat fruit salad in general, but these ice pops offer a unique twist on an old favourite. I’ve never had strawberries in my fruit salad… will have to try that soon! Thanks for the recipe!

This looks fantastic!! I recently bought halo halo ice cream and was quite disappointed with the lack of taste and “mga minatamis”. You just gave me an idea to make it a popsicle version
On a side note, my brother likes to enjoy fruit salad frozen. This is so much easier to eat than the blocks (the container) we have to deal with.

Great minds think alike- Asia is getting hot and ice lollies are just the perfect cold treat for those steamy days. I love how you left the fruit whole, it made the pops so pretty. I think the hardest part to your recipe is waiting for the ice lollies to freeze to eat. Take care, BAM
